Look: Cowboys' Elliott, Prescott dominating social media

Tim Heitman / USA TODAY Sports

Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott's dominant rookie campaigns were reflected in more than just stat sheets and jersey sales.

A study by Fanatics exploring the social media following of NFL rookies found the Dallas Cowboys stars gained more than double the number of Twitter followers per day than the next closest team during the 2016 season.

Elliott is especially popular on social media. He led all rookies with 599,804 Twitter followers at the midpoint of the season - an increase of over 200,000 from the preseason - and is currently sitting at more than 1.5 million followers.

Prescott tied for the fourth-most female Twitter followers of any rookie, behind Carolina Panthers cornerback Daryl Worley, Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson, and Los Angeles Chargers fullback Derek Watt, the younger brother of J.J. Watt.
