Broncos to hold open competition at QB

Ron Chenoy / USA TODAY Sports

New Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph maintained Wednesday that the team is happy with the quarterbacks currently on its roster.

While the Broncos have been rumored to be interested in Tony Romo if he hits the open market, Joseph suggested the Broncos will move forward with last year's starter Trevor Siemian and 2016 draft pick Paxton Lynch.

"We're fine with those two kids," Joseph said at the scouting combine, according to Andrew Mason of Broncos.com.

Joseph said Siemian will be ready for OTAs after undergoing shoulder surgery and that Lynch will have a chance to start as well.

"The problem with Paxton and Trevor, they're so different," Joseph said, according to Mason.

He added that he doesn't yet know if Lynch is ready to be the team's No. 1 quarterback moving forward.

"I am not sure. He needs to be consistent. It will be an open competition," Joseph said, via Troy Renck of Denver7 ABC.
