Report: Wizards interested in Brandon Jennings
The Washington Wizards badly need more bench production, and they happen to be in luck.
Brandon Jennings was waived by the New York Knicks on Monday and the Wizards are said to be interested, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.
Washington caught fire in recent months, but their starters have carried a heavy burden to sustain their momentum. Backup point guard Trey Burke in particular has struggled to contribute.
The 27-year-old Jennings would represent a clear upgrade. He averaged 8.6 points and 4.9 assists off the bench in New York this season.
Washington could also wait to see what other options arise. The post-trade deadline buyout market is starting to heat up as veterans on bottom-tier teams are being waived left and right. The Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Brooklyn Nets have already shed useful but superfluous pieces.
