The Toronto Argonauts are expected to hire former Montreal Alouettes general manager Jim Popp and head coach Marc Trestman in the same capacities, according to Gary Lawless of TSN.

Popp was general manager of the Alouettes from 1996-2016, where he helped build the team into a three-time Grey Cup champion, while also appearing in five more Grey Cup games. As well, he won a Grey Cup as general manager of the Baltimore Stallions in 1995.

The 52-year-old also coached the Alouettes on four separate occasions, in 2001, 2006-07, 2013, and 2015-16, losing the 2006 Grey Cup.

Trestman was hired by Popp in December 2007 and had immediate success on the Alouettes sideline. In his first season, Trestman took the Als to the Grey Cup, ultimately losing.

However, Trestman won back-to-back Grey Cups in 2009-10, before leaving for the NFL after two more seasons in Montreal.

Hired by the Chicago Bears in 2013, Trestman was fired after two seasons, following a 13-19 overall record.

Trestman was the offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens for the past two seasons.

Popp and Trestman would fill the voids left after general manager Jim Barker was fired on Jan. 24 and head coach Scott Milanovich resigned on Jan. 27 to become the quarterbacks coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
