Leicester City has held talks with Guus Hiddink over its vacant manager's position, according to The Telegraph's Jason Burt, John Percy, and Sam Wallace, but the 70-year-old is apparently not keen on taking Claudio Ranieri's former job.

Hiddink has developed a reputation as a Premier League Band-Aid following his work as an interim boss for Chelsea on two separate occasions.

The Telegraph believes Leicester wants the Dutchman to fill the role until the end of the season, with the principal objective of staying in the top flight.

Efforts were also made to contact 1860 Munich overseer Vitor Pereira, but it appears he would like to see out the campaign with the Bundesliga outfit.

However, Hiddink's global credentials - which includes experience in the World Cup and the Champions League - make him the standout candidate for the gig. With a Round of 16 tie against Sevilla still in contention, Leicester clearly wants a manager who can handle big moments.

Hiddink performed a similar task last season when he replaced Jose Mourinho on the Chelsea bench. Once at risk of dropping into the relegation battle, the Blues ended up finishing in 10th place under Hiddink's watch.

Ex-Inter and Manchester City gaffer Roberto Mancini had emerged as the bookmakers' favourite to succeed Ranieri, who was dismissed Thursday in unceremonious circumstances.

But Mark Ashenden of Sky Sports relayed Friday the Italian has "no desire" to manager the Foxes, whom he represented briefly in 2001.

Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is currently in town to work out the situation, according to The Telegraph's trio, and it could get worse if the reigning champion fails to take a result from Monday's clash against Liverpool.

Saturday's results mean Leicester is now in 18th place and officially out of the title race.
