What do you get for the man who has everything?

Floyd Mayweather turned 40 on Saturday, and he took time out of his birthday festivities to give an interview at a Showtime Boxing event. When the conversation inevitably turned to rumors of his crossover bout with UFC star Conor McGregor, he confirmed a fight with the Irishman is what he wants and what he believes the people want more than any other.

"Let's make the fight happen," said Mayweather. "Let's give the fans what they want to see. There's only one fight out there that's important: that's Mayweather and Conor McGregor."

Mayweather also went the extra mile to compliment McGregor when he was asked why fans should care to see one of the greatest boxers of all time go up against someone who has never competed outside of MMA.

"Every time Conor McGregor go out there and compete and win he do it standing up," said Mayweather. "When Conor McGregor did lose, he lost on the ground. He didn't lose standing up. So he's a hell of a fighter and he's a very, very tough competitor. He has the will to win.

"The UFC gloves are no different from boxing gloves, they're just a little bit smaller. If a guy got power he got power, and Conor McGregor got power."

The hard sell continues for the once absurd fantasy matchup that is gradually becoming a reality.
