Weird Week in Football: Kisses and near misses

beIN Sport

Every Monday, theScore will highlight the most outlandish moments from the wacky, sometimes daft, and perennially entertaining world of football. Here's what made us smile - or cringe - on the pitch this past week.

Football is all about adjustments. Whether it be accommodating an opponent's tactical shifts with a change of formation or a substitution, the beautiful game is an organic entity in constant change.

Just ask non-league darlings Sutton United. After second-string shot-stopper Wayne Shaw quit the club amid criticism for making a mockery of the club's FA Cup clash with Arsenal by munching on a pasty, Paul Doswell was forced to put defender Simon Downer between the sticks in a win over Torquay United.

You know who does make the most of what he has? Weird Week in Football favourite Pablo Escobar. The Bolivian attacker was up to his old tricks bagging a hat trick for The Strongest in Copa Libertadores qualifiers. That celebration is (insert infinite fire emojis).

With that in mind, and with a theme of making the best - or worst - of what you have, here's a look at the Weird Week in Football:

Scot has soft spot for the white stuff

While Storm Doris was ravaging much of the British Isles, Falkirk skipper David McCracken displayed some elite improvisational skills while stuck in traffic on the way to training.

Hey, David, fancy a good core workout? Shovel my driveway, bruv.

Keano shows no mercy for shot-stopping son

Without a club since leaving the LA Galaxy at the end of the last MLS campaign, 146-time capped Ireland international Robbie Keane has been staying match fit by practicing his trade at home.

Like many a 'keeper before him, Keano's son felt the wrath of his father's penchant for top-shelf goals. To be fair, the boy showed better lateral movement than Petr Cech.

Kamara produces Kodak moment

While we're on the topic of the North American top flight and its celebrated strikers, what better way to cap off the weird week than with a shocking missed sitter by New England Revolution forward Kei Kamara during Saturday's preseason prepper with Red Bulls. Oof.

If Kamara is seeking solace, it could have been worse. Look no further than Metz midfielder Georges Mandjeck's attempt Sunday at Lyon. My word.
