The New Orleans Pelicans have waived power forward Terrence Jones, the team announced Thursday.
New Orleans used its open roster spot to officially sign shooting guard Hollis Thompson to a 10-day contract.
The Pelicans had reportedly attempted to find a trade partner for Jones after landing All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins from the Sacramento Kings, but failed to find a suitable deal prior to Thursday's deadline.
Jones is in the midst of a solid season, averaging 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and one block in 51 games for the Pelicans.
