Jets release Nick Folk, Breno Giacomini

Anthony Gruppuso / USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets announced the release of a pair of veteran free agents Thursday, cutting ties with kicker Nick Folk and offensive lineman Breno Giacomini.

Folk's seven-year run with the organization ends after 104 games in which he converted on 82.2 percent of his field goal attempts.

Giacomini spent the last three seasons in New York after signing as a free agent in 2014, starting in all 37 appearances over that stretch.

The moves will save the Jets a much-needed $7.5 million in cap space.
