George 'committed' to Pacers, has had 'great talks' with management

USA Today Sports

While his future with the team remains up in the air, Paul George is fully dedicated to the Indiana Pacers for the time being.

"I'm committed here," George told Jim Ayello of IndyStar Sports. "Myself and the front office, we've had great talks."

Reports surfaced on Wednesday that Indiana was gauging the trade market for George, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season. The 26-year-old has the ability to sign a potential $219-million extension this summer, but has publicly stated that he wants to be a part of a contender.

"My head isn't wrapped around (trade rumors). I'm focused on turning around this team in the second half," George said.

After a strong January, the Pacers have struggled of late, dropping their final six contests prior to the All-Star break.

The 26-year-old is averaging 22.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.6 steals on 44.6 percent shooting this season.
