Report: Bell not expected to undergo groin surgery

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell hasn't scheduled groin surgery this offseason and isn't expected to undergo such a procedure, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

A previous report suggested Bell might need surgery after suffering a late-season groin ailment. Bell would've undergone the surgery by now if he required it, according to Rapoport.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin revealed in January that he was aware of Bell's injury but praised the running back for fighting through it. Tomlin noted that Bell didn't have to miss practice with the ailment at any point.

"I'm kind of in the process of seeing a couple of doctors, seeing if I have to get surgery or not," Bell said Feb. 1 during a segment on NFL Network. "I'm hoping for the best, but I understand it's a tough game. If I don't get surgery, I go into the rehab process, work hard, get back to how I was last year - actually, better."

Bell left the AFC Championship Game during the first quarter as a result of the injury, and did not return.

The 25-year-old rushed for 1,268 yards and seven touchdowns last season, adding 75 receptions for 616 yards and two more scores in 12 games.
