Report: Romo passed on chance at 'very good off-field job' to keep playing

The immediate and long-term future of Tony Romo's playing career is still up in the air, but the Dallas Cowboys veteran quarterback is serious about continuing it.

According to The MMQB's Peter King, Romo turned down at least one opportunity to pursue good work outside of quarterbacking.

I know he had a chance to get at least one very good off-field job offer since the end of the regular season. He didn’t do it, because he still wants to play.

Whenever he does decide to hang up his pads, Romo is sure to have career opportunities in media, business, politics, or any job one can acquire in the Dallas area.

What happens to Romo next is still a mystery. He could be released, but unless he's cut after June, that would put a huge dent in the Cowboys' 2017 salary cap. He could also be traded, but his hefty salary and remaining contract years aren't burdens many teams are willing or able to take on.
