Alabama is turning to a Super Bowl champion in hopes of finding some stability at the offensive coordinator position.

The Crimson Tide are hiring New England Patriots tight end coach Brian Daboll as their new offensive coordinator, Chris Low of ESPN reports. Daboll emerged as the favorite earlier this week to replace Steve Sarkisian, who took the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator job after replacing Lane Kiffin in the national title game.

A veteran of 17 seasons as a coach in the NFL, Daboll has earned five Super Bowl rings with the Patriots. The 41-year-old knows head coach Nick Saban well, serving on his staff at Michigan State from 1998-99.

Daboll will be Alabama's fifth offensive coordinator since the conclusion of the 2011 season.
