LSU's Arden Key taking hiatus from football for personal reasons

LSU defensive end Arden Key, the program's single-season sack record-holder, is taking a hiatus from football, the Tigers announced Wednesday.

"In consultation with our staff and his family, Arden Key has decided to take some time away from football for personal reasons," head coach Ed Orgeron said in a brief statement. "We fully support Arden in his decision and look forward to welcoming him back home to the Tiger family at the appropriate time."

Key registered 12 sacks as a sophomore, making him one of the top NFL draft-eligible prospects for 2018.

His father told Ross Dellenger of The Advocate that the star pass-rusher is "fine" and healthy, but didn't reveal the cause of his son's leave. A source confirmed to Dellenger that Key remains enrolled at LSU.
