Warner would 'bang the table' to make Boldin Hall of Famer

During his 12-year career, Kurt Warner threw passes to some of the greatest wide receivers to ever step onto an NFL field.

Asked Tuesday on "PFT Live" to identify one former teammate he'd fight to have inducted into the Hall of Fame, Warner said that because Larry Fitzgerald is a lock, and Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt will probably get in, he'd argue for Anquan Boldin, whom he described as "one of the greatest football players I ever played with."

"I might bang the table for Anquan Boldin, because I think of all those guys, he gets the least respect for how great he is," Warner said, according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site. "It amazes me, we want to keep looking at measurables and how fast guys are, as opposed to (being) one of the greatest football players I ever played with, competed more than anybody I ever played (with).

"He wanted the ball in his hands, was a difference-maker. Everybody tries to get rid of him and he just goes and he's the No. 1 receiver on that next team. So I believe he's the one who gets the least amount of respect, so I would love to get on the table for him."

Boldin appears to have a solid case for Canton, though he could be a victim of a logjam at that position that will only get worse with the likes of Fitzgerald, Steve Smith, and Andre Johnson all likely to be candidates around the same time.

The 36-year-old is 14th all time in receiving yards (13,779), ninth in receptions (1,076), and tied for 23rd in touchdowns (82).

Boldin has yet to officially commit to returning for the 2017 season. He's a free agent, but after a solid 2016 campaign with the Detroit Lions, he'll probably get a shot at improving those numbers - and his case for the Hall of Fame.
