Report: Chiefs expected to decline option on Foles

The Kansas City Chiefs are unlikely to pick up Nick Foles' option for 2017, making the veteran quarterback a free agent, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Foles, who started one game for the Chiefs last season, was due to be paid $6.4 million in 2017.

Though he was unimpressive starting for the St. Louis Rams in 2015, he was mildly impressive in limited duty for the Chiefs last season, completing 36-of-55 pass attempts for 410 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Foles shouldn't have much trouble latching on with a new team as a backup, and it's not entirely out of the question that he'll get the opportunity to be a bridge starter for a team that drafts a quarterback.
