Aleix Vidal can't catch a break at the Camp Nou.

After Vidal suffered an ankle injury late in Barcelona's 6-0 La Liga victory over Deportivo Alaves, the Blaugrana confirmed the Spanish right-back is out for about five months and will therefore miss the rest of the Catalan club's season.

The 27-year-old picked up the knock in the 85th minute, and his teammates were quick to express concern after the final whistle.

Ivan Rakitic, who scored Barcelona's sixth goal, said: "The match went well but we hope Aleix hasn't suffered too serious an injury. I hope it doesn't turn out to be as bad as it looks, I was quite shocked. Hopefully he'll be back soon as he is a great guy and he was playing excellently."

Vidal will end the 2016-17 La Liga with two goals and two assists through six appearances. It's the second consecutive season in which his participation was limited, as he was unable to make his debut for Barcelona until January 2016 due to a FIFA-imposed transfer ban.
