Ramos marks 500th match in Real Madrid victory

Sergio Ramos, he of the stately visage, heart-stopping smile, and penchant for timely goals, celebrated his 500th official appearance for Real Madrid Saturday in a 3-1 victory at Pamplona side Osasuna.

With a knack for important tallies, Ramos has scored 66 goals and registered 35 assists, including several well-timed efforts in the continent's biggest matches.

"The goals he scored in the finals of la Decima and la Undecima will also remain in the minds of our fans along with his brace at the Olympic Stadium in Munich, his goal in the first Club World Cup final, the last UEFA Super Cup or those that he scored in extra time against Barcelona and Deportivo in this LaLiga campaign," a club statement read.

Real's captain is now 12th all-time on the club's appearances list, seven short of Michel and 241 back of Raul's record 741.

After joining Los Blancos from Sevilla as a 19-year-old in September 2005, Ramos has gone on to enjoy a decorated tenure with the capital club. A World Cup champ in 2010 with Spain, Ramos, 30, has thrice won the league at Real paired with two Champions League titles and a tandem of Copa del Rey crowns.

Ramos has also been named La Liga's best defender on four occasions, the Spanish top flight's Breakthrough Player of the Year (2005), and twice as a member of the Champions League team of the season (2013-14, 2015-16). In terms of discipline, Ramos has been brandished 173 yellow cards and 21 sending offs.
