Real Madrid's Isco was effusive in his apologies after his ill-advised lunging tackle resulted in Osasuna's Tano suffering a gruesome leg break on Saturday.
Osasuna confirmed the Dominican centre-back suffered a fracture of the tibia and fibula in his right leg as a result of the 13th-minute collision, and after the 3-1 Real Madrid victory, Isco offered his best wishes to the 26-year-old.
"Tano's injury was due to a poorly timed lunge," he said.
"We went in knee-to-knee, and he stayed down. It really is awful that he suffered such a bad injury. I am sorry and I hope he recovers as soon as possible. I haven’t looked back at the footage; it was a chilling moment and it is horrible that it happened”.
