Day lucky to finish, posts 2-under 69 at Pebble Beach

Michael Madrid-USA TODAY Sports

Jason Day was one of the fortunate players Thursday to finish his opening round at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, as play was called due to inclement weather.

Day had four birdies and two bogeys at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, posting a 2-under 69, and was happy to be done.

"It was tough," Day said. "The wind was pretty stiff and obviously the rain, but luckily enough we got to tee off pretty early. Going an hour early was nice for us, I think we only had four holes in the rain. I think the hardest part about today, was to commit to a shot."

Stat Round 1
Birdies 4
Pars 12
Bogeys 2
Fairways hit 7/13
Driving distance 299
Greens hit 11/18
Putts per GIR 1.818

The world No. 1 took last week off after missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open where he shot 73-74.

"The game feels good. I got to just keep working at it, it's a process when it comes this stuff. You can't always come out and dominate, when things aren't going your way, you have to keep working hard to try and get out of it."
