Two well-known major-league Canucks have been left off Team Canada's roster for the World Baseball Classic.

After expressing his desire to represent his country as a shortstop, it appears Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin was left off the team due to insurance issues associated with minor offseason knee surgery, according to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.

Additionally, outfielder Michael Saunders - fresh off signing a one-year, $9-million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies - decided not to participate due to his preference to remain with his new team for spring training.

A few notable members of team Canada include Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman, Oakland Athletics reliever John Axford, and Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey.
