Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo claims Antoine Griezmann is "delighted" to be at the club despite reports that the striker has already held contract talks with Manchester United.

Cerezo playfully dubbed the English behemoth a "small team," but it's a move that does appear to have some grounding. The rumours that Atleti manager Diego Simeone may depart next summer could spark Griezmann's exit, with the bonuses of the famous No. 7 jersey and a working relationship with friend Paul Pogba on offer at United.

"Antoine is fantastic and the truth is that he is delighted to be at Atletico," Cerezo told ESPN FC's Adriana Garcia in a bid to refute a summer switch.

"It's very difficult for our players to leave because they love life here. The only thing that I can say is that Griezmann has a contract with us.

"The day that there is something important, that there are possibilities (for him to leave), I will be the first to announce it, but in the meantime there is no chance."

Cerezo also laughed off suggestions that Griezmann has already undergone contract discussions with United, and jokingly dubbed Jose Mourinho's lot a "small team."

Atletico has been relinquished of star names in the past, however, with Sergio Aguero, Radamel Falcao, and Diego Costa seeking moves from the Spanish capital, but Cerezo believes Griezmann's association with Los Colchoneros isn't over yet.

"Those players (Aguero, Falcao, and Costa) left when everyone, including me, considered that their cycle (at the club) had finished, but Griezmann is a magnificent player," he told Cadena Ser radio, as reported by ESPN FC.

"We and our fans are delighted to have him with us and he has many years left on his contract."
