Enrique unsure if Pique, Rafinha will be fit for Atletico encounter

It's too soon to determine whether Gerard Pique and Rafinha will return to fitness ahead of Tuesday's Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid, according to Barcelona manager Luis Enrique.

Enrique revealed that Pique and Rafinha could be forced to miss the second leg after leaving Saturday's 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao with thigh and head injuries, respectively.

Pique was removed at halftime after picking up a thigh knock, while Rafinha was on the receiving end of a heavy collision with Marc-Andre ter Stegen's knee shortly after the break, which left the Brazilian with a head laceration.

"The problem with Gerard was as a result of playing so many minutes recently and we didn't want to risk him (in the second half)," Enrique told reporters, according to ESPNFC's Samuel Marsden.

"I don't know if either of them will be back for Tuesday, that will depend on the medical team and the players themselves, but I hope they are."

Rafinha will presumably need stitches just above his eyebrow after photos emerged showing the severity of the wound. But, assuming the medical team applies heavy dressing, Rafinha appears the more likely of the two to feature in Tuesday's fixture.

Enrique will also have to wait for word on the status of Sergio Busquets (ankle), Andres Iniesta (calf), and Lucas Digne (knee) - all of whom returned to training this past week.

Barcelona has the advantage heading into the match at the Camp Nou after edging Atletico 2-1 in the first leg.
