Hughes falls back with 3rd-round 74 at Torrey Pines

After two rounds of 70 at the Farmers Insurance Open, Saturday wasn't as kind to Mackenzie Hughes, posting a 2-over-par 74.

Hughes opened with a birdie, but bogeyed three of the next four holes, when he missed the fairway to the right, to shoot a 1-over-par 37 on the front nine.

The 26-year-old failed to get up-and-down from the green side bunker at No. 11 for par, but would get it back with birdie at the par-5 13th. Hughes would bogey the next hole after he drove it into the right rough and par the remaining holes coming in.

Hughes dropped 31 spots into a tie for 42nd and trails Patrick Rodgers by seven strokes.
