Woods misses 36-hole cut at Torrey Pines for 1st time
Tiger Woods played better Friday on Torrey Pines North course, but it wasn't enough to make the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Woods posted rounds of 76-72 over two days, failing to make the 36-hole cut at the event for the first time in his career. The 41-year-old missed the 54-hole cut in 2014 after a third round 79.
"It's frustrating not to be able to win the golf tournament, I didn't make the cut," said the 14-time major champion.
Tiger opened his round with a birdie, but quickly gave it right back at the par-3 12th when he failed to get up-and-down from the green side bunker. From then on Woods played consistent golf coming in, making 13 pars, one birdie, and one bogey to finish his first tournament back after multiple back surgeries.

"Overall, today was a lot better than yesterday. I hit it better, I putted well again. I hit a lot of beautiful putts that didn't go in," Woods said after the round. "We fixed a lot of things while playing today, which was good."
Woods heads to Dubai next week to continue a stretch that will see him tee it up four times over five weeks, a schedule he believes is absolutely necessary.
"Playing tournament golf is a little bit different than playing with your buddies at home in a cart. I need to get more rounds under my belt and more playing time and that's what I am trying to do."
Woods concluded he's working toward one week in particular.
"That first full week in April."
