Woods' week at Torrey: The good, bad, and ugly

Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

Tiger Woods failed to make the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open Friday, and will have the weekend to figure his game out before heading to Dubai next week.

Here's the good, bad, and ugly from Woods' week at Torrey Pines.

Good

Woods' short game looked pretty solid in his two rounds, and he needed it where he was hitting the golf ball. Tiger's pace with the putter was very good on long putts and made a number of good strokes from mid-range.

Bad

It's no so much what he did, but what he won't be doing. Woods will be sitting at home in Florida, practicing at his home club, which is the last thing he needs. Tiger needs competitive repetitions, not practice. He mentioned after his round Thursday, that the pace of play, the crowds, and the environment are just different than back at home.

Ugly

Simply put, the driver. Woods missed a lot of fairways on a course that was set up more like a U.S. Open than a normal PGA Tour event. Tiger missed 14 fairways for the week, which presented a snowball effect. Bad lies led to fewer opportunities to get the ball to hole, or even forced Tiger into laying up.
