The Kansas City Royals lost young pitching phenom Yordano Ventura in a car accident that took place in the Dominican Republic on Sunday, and while players, staff, and fans mourned his passing, the organization received a kind gift to cope with the loss of the 25-year-old from the Miami Marlins.

Miami sent flowers to the Royals on Monday in remembrance of Ventura, who was pegged as an integral part of the team's rotation for the foreseeable future.

The Marlins' sympathetic gift comes almost four months after the shocking death of their own pitching powerhouse, Jose Fernandez, who was killed along with two others in a boating accident near Miami Beach, Fla.

Before his death, Ventura owned a 38-31 record with a 3.89 ERA in 94 appearances over four big-league seasons with the Royals.
