Deja vu? History shows Falcons' big lead isn't safe

Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons are off to an excellent start during the NFC Championship Game with a 24-0 halftime lead over the Green Bay Packers, but fans shouldn't be purchasing their Super Bowl tickets just yet.

History serves as a reminder that the Falcons led 17-0 against the San Francisco 49ers during the 2012 NFC Championship Game, only to lose 28-24. NaVorro Bowman broke up a pass intended for Roddy White with the Falcons on the 10-yard line to preserve the victory.

This isn't to say that the Falcons will squander the lead, only that the early advantage doesn't mean this game is over by any stretch, especially with Aaron Rodgers involved.
