Wayne Rooney's record-breaking free-kick Saturday inspired praise from many of English football's greats - and one inventive ad from personal sponsor Nike.

The American outfitter unveiled a huge advertising board on the hotel adjacent to Manchester United's iconic Old Trafford stadium. In it is Rooney's name, spelled the way a commentator would shout it, with each "0" representing one of his 250 goals for the Red Devils.

Nike also released special boots commemorating Rooney's historic achievement:

Sir Bobby Charlton set the 249-goal benchmark for United in 1973.
