More than a month after being acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox, left-hander Chris Sale finally got to wear the legendary uniform of the Boston Red Sox.

The 27-year-old was the last player introduced Friday at the Red Sox Winter Weekend and received a standing ovation from around 2,500 fans in attendance when 2016 Cy Young winner Rick Porcello draped the No. 41 on his new teammate.

"It feels awesome," Sale said of the welcome to Boston, according to MLB.com's Ian Browne. "I just want to help this team get to the playoffs and win a World Series."

Sale was introduced along with Mitch Moreland and Tyler Thornburg, who were both acquired in the offseason as well.

Over his seven-year career, Sale owns a 74-50 record with a 3.00 ERA in 228 appearances - 148 starts - to go along with a strikeout rate of 10.1 per nine innings.
