Report: White Sox not backing off Quintana asking price

After Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn acquired a king's ransom of prospects in exchange for Chris Sale and Adam Eaton during a whirlwind offseason for the South Siders, it appears he wants something similar for the most valuable piece he may have left to deal.

Even though the White Sox continue to discuss trades involving Jose Quintana, they're in no rush to deal the left-hander, and are not backing down from their high asking price, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, citing major-league sources.

Clubs have recently been increasing their offers to the White Sox to acquire the Venezuelan southpaw, but no deal has been good enough for Hahn to make a move.

A number of clubs, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers, have been linked to Quintana after another impressive 2016 campaign when he finished among the American League's best in several categories:

CATEGORY STAT AL RANK
ERA 3.20 7
IP 208 6
SO 181 11
WHIP 1.16 8

Quintana, who is about to turn 28, is under team control for four more seasons and has been a horse for the White Sox, pitching 200 or more innings in each of the past four seasons.

He's set to earn $7 million next season, $8.85 million in 2018, and is tied to club options of $10.5 million and $11.5 million in 2019 and '20, respectively.

Over his five years of big-league ball, Quintana owns a 3.41 ERA and 1.24 WHIP during 154 appearances - 151 starts - while pitching 951 innings.
