Report: Packers' Adams will need to test ankle before playing vs. Falcons

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams will need to test his ankle out before he can be cleared to play in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Adams is expected to miss practice until Saturday, and will need to go through further testing before the team makes a decision.

It was reported earlier Thursday that the Packers expect Adams to suit up for the game, while fellow receivers Jordy Nelson and Geronimo Allison work through hamstring and rib injuries, respectively.

If it were a regular season game, Adams would've likely been ruled out, head coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday.

"They’re still working," McCarthy said, according Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "They’re mentally getting ready. This is an injury threshold all three of those guys have, Jordy, Davante, and Geronimo. They all have three distinctly different injuries.

"In the regular-season mindset, I would think none of them would play in this game. But obviously this is a different time, this is a different point where we are in the season. Everybody understands what’s on the line here."

McCarthy also said he's confident in his team if Adams, Nelson, and Allison can't play Sunday.

"No, we’re confident with everybody we have here," McCarthy said. "Our plan is set. If these guys make it, it will be a bonus."
