Mayweather mocks McGregor's net worth on Twitter

Floyd Mayweather has his reasons for demanding a bigger piece of the pie should he ever fight Conor McGregor.

"Money" already called UFC president Dana White a "comedian" for suggesting that Mayweather and McGregor be paid equally for a crossover bout - $25 million each, to be exact. The 39-year-old boxing star believes he's the more proven draw and thus should receive a far greater share of the purse.

Mayweather tweeted a graphic Thursday depicting the gulf in worth between the two fighters:

According to Coral Barry of Metro News, the discrepancy between Mayweather and McGregor may not be as large as it seems at face value.

Mayweather's tweet refers to an article from TheRichest that was written just after UFC 196. That means the net worth hasn't been updated to include McGregor's pay from UFC 202 and UFC 205, where he reportedly earned at least $3 million for each show in addition to a share of the pay-per-view profits. Both fighters also earn a sizable chunk of change from their licensing and endorsement deals.

If this heated negotiation period continues along the same path as the one between Mayweather and longtime rival Manny Pacquiao, fans can expect to see Mayweather lock horns with "The Notorious" sometime after 2020.
