One of the greatest members of the Montreal Expos finally reached the baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday, as Tim Raines was elected into Cooperstown after receiving 80 percent of the vote from the BBWAA on his final year of eligibility.

Upon receiving the news, Raines was the recipient of a number of congratulatory messages, including one from lifelong Expos fan and current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Raines was drafted by the Expos in the fifth round of the 1977 draft and went on to play 13 seasons in Montreal. He currently ranks first in Expos/Nationals franchise history in runs, triples, walks, and stolen bases, while sitting second in hits.

"Being a part of Montreal for 13 years and seeing the support from Montreal … is nothing but unbelievable," Raines told MLB Network following the announcement.

"To know that I'm in the Hall of Fame, there are going to be a lot of proud people in Canada."
