Report: Colorado fills DC role with Kentucky's Eliot

James Snook-US PRESSWIRE

Colorado has apparently found its man to replace Jim Leavitt, as sources told Jon Hale of the Courier-Journal that the Buffaloes have hired Kentucky's D.J. Eliot as their new defensive coordinator.

Eliot has served as the Wildcats defensive coordinator since 2014, coming over to the SEC program from Florida State when Mark Stoops took the head coaching position. Stoops took over defensive play-calling duties from Eliot after Kentucky started this season 0-2.

Colorado's defense enjoyed an impressive season under Leavitt's leadership, finishing 20th in the country, allowing just 21.7 points per game. The veteran coordinator left the Buffaloes to join Oregon in the same capacity following the season.
