Miami running back Gus Edwards will transfer out of the program, the school confirmed to Christy Chirinos of the Sun Sentinel.

Edwards rushed for 290 yards and a touchdown in 2016, ranking third on the team. In his Miami career, Edwards finished with 977 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.

Sophomore Mark Walton led the Hurricanes in rushing with 1,1117 yards last season and fellow junior Joseph Yearby was second with 608 yards on the ground.

Edwards, a redshirt junior and New York native, will be considered a grad transfer and won't have to sit out a season.
