East Carolina and Appalachian State will renew pleasantries in the coming decade.

The two programs announced Tuesday that they have come to terms on a four-year home-and-home series. The series will be jump-started on Sept. 4 2021 when the two teams square off at Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers.

Appalachian State will host game three of the series on Sept. 6, 2025, while the Pirates will welcome the Mountaineers on Sept. 14, 2024 and Sept. 5, 2026.

"Both football programs have a rich history of success and outstanding fan support, ECU athletic director Jeff Compher said. "I am especially excited for our future football student-athletes who will have an opportunity to play in such an exceptional NFL venue as Bank of America Stadium. We are grateful to Doug Gillen and our colleagues at Appalachian for working together in creating this four-game series."

East Carolina and Appalachian State have a history with each other, dating back to 1932 when the series between the two school's began. The two programs have only played twice since 1979 however, and the Mountaineers currently own a 19-12 edge in the series.
