Cincinnati names Mike Denbrock offensive coordinator

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell announced Tuesday that Mike Denbrock will be taking over as offensive coordinator for the Bearcats in 2017.

Denbrock spent the previous seven seasons on Brian Kelly's staff at Notre Dame as tight ends coach, wide receivers coach, and offensive coordinator in 2014. Denbrock will also be handling quarterback coaching duties for the Bearcats.

"Mike is a proven offensive leader," Fickell said. "I'm excited for him to get started on the recruiting trail and work with our team heading into the spring and our journey into the future. He's another in the mold of great coaches and family men that we've attracted to our staff here. It's exciting what we are building with a quality staff of teachers and coaches to lead our players."

Prior to his tenure at Notre Dame, Denbrock spent three years as Washington's offensive line coach from 2005-08, and served in the same capacity at Stanford in 2001.
