Report: Texas' Herman doesn't want players parents speaking with reporters

Troy Taormina / USA TODAY Sports

Tom Herman is certainly not wasting much time in making his mark on the Texas program, having already implemented some new rules for parents of his players when it comes to the media.

According to Brian Davis of the Austin American Statesman, Herman told parents of the Longhorns players that they are "to be positive about the team on social media and not to speak with reporters."

Herman comes to Texas with massive expectations after his incredibly successful run at Houston the past two seasons. With the disappointing tenure of Charlie Strong in the rear view, it appears the new coach wants to keep things as close to the program as possible.

It's similar to how he ran things in Houston, where USA Today's Dan Wolken notes he was "obsessed with controlling the message."

Controlling the message with the media at Houston and the media that covers Texas is two completely different things, so it will be interesting to see how this goes over throughout Herman's tenure.
