Report: Monaco rejects Chinese club's €50M bid for Falcao

The latest attempt to bring Radamel Falcao to China has failed after AS Monaco rejected a lucrative offer from Tianjin Quanjian.

The French side, which sits atop the Ligue 1 table, was quick to reject a bid for Falcao worth €50 million and will reportedly resist offers until Tianjin Quanjian increases its bid, according to French publication L'Equipe, as translated by Claire Bloomfield of Sky Sports.

Although Monaco club vice-president Vadim Vasilyev admitted it would be difficult to dismiss the type of extravagant transfer offers that have recently seen several players ditch Europe for China, Monaco will reportedly refuse to sell Falcao unless the Chinese Super League outfit boosts its offer by 30 percent.

Falcao, on two occasions, decided against a move to China during his days in the Premier League as he insisted on fighting for a regular place at Chelsea.

However, he eventually returned to Monaco following two disappointing seasons with Manchester United and Chelsea.

Despite Monaco's success with Falcao in the fold for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign, Vasilyev conceded that lavish offers will be difficult to refuse.

"I have to think like a leader," he said during an interview with Canal+. "Obviously I want to win titles and trophies, but there are special situations. There are very few clubs in the world that can refuse any offer."

Tianjin Quanjian - managed by former Real Madrid and Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro and recently promoted to China's top flight - made headlines earlier this month when Zenit St. Petersburg agreed to sell Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel in a deal reportedly worth €70.6 million.

Since returning to Ligue 1, a rejuvenated Falcao, 30, has scored 14 goals in 18 appearances.
