Michigan State lands 4-star LB Antjuan Simmons

Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Michigan State landed a big-name recruit from rival Michigan's backyard on Saturday, as Ann Arbor native Antjuan Simmons committed to the Spartans.

The four-star linebacker, who previously committed to Ohio State before decommitting in December, is ranked as the 20th-best player at his position in the class of 2017, and is the 295th-overall prospect on the ESPN 300.

Simmons held offers from a number of Power 5 programs, including the Wolverines, LSU, Miami, Georgia, Oregon, and Texas A&M before deciding to attend Michigan State.

Despite the fact he will only be a freshman, Simmons could see a fair amount of playing time right away, as Mark Dantonio attempts to fix the nation's 61st-ranked defense next season.
