Justin Thomas can make more history this weekend in Hawaii

Justin Thomas is having a fantastic two-week stretch in the state of Hawaii, but he's been playing brilliant golf since the Tour Championship in late September.

In his last 10 rounds, Thomas has carded nine in the 60s, with the lone exception being his 59 on Thursday, when he became the seventh player to shoot a sub-60 round.

On Friday, the world No. 12 broke the PGA Tour 36-hole scoring record with a two-day total of 123 and can create more history this weekend.

The 54- and 72-hole scoring records are in jeopardy

If Thomas shoots 64 or better on Saturday at Waialae Country Club, he'll break the 54-hole total of 188 set by Steve Stricker at the 2010 John Deere Classic. Should he shoot 10-under for the weekend, he'll also set the new 72-hole scoring mark of 254 held by Tommy Armour III, achieved at the 2003 Texas Open.

Three in five

It's happened five times and been achieved by just two players since 1970 - by winning three of the first five events he's entered, Thomas can join Tiger Woods and Johnny Miller as the only pros to achieve the feat. Woods accomplished it in 2003, 2008, and 2013, while Miller did it in back-to-back years in 1974 and 1975, winning the PGA Player of the Year Award in '74. Woods went on to win the award in '03 and '13.
