Woodland 'played pretty solid' after posting another 64

Gary Woodland has been off for four weeks, but his game isn't showing any rust after the layoff.

Woodland posted another 6-under-par 64 Friday at the Sony Open, after beginning his round with a bogey. The world No. 50 settled into his round making seven birdies, which included a stretch of five in a row starting at the sixth.

"I played pretty solid," said Woodland. "I hit it very good yesterday, today I got off to a little rocky start, but kind of settled in there."

Though Woodland hasn't been playing competitively, it doesn't mean he hasn't been working on his game and is happy to do it under pressure.

"I got some work in with Butch (Harmon) and have been hitting it pretty hard at home. So it's nice to get out here and get it under the conditions of a tournament."

The two-time winner will be paired with Justin Thomas, the hottest player on the planet at the moment, but he isn't thinking about his playing partner tomorrow.

"I've got a game plan for this golf course and I've executed it pretty well. I had chances to go really low today, so I got to go out and take care of my business."
