Watch: Thomas helps putting stats by making birdie from off the green

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Justin Thomas is chasing history again at the Sony Open. The 23-year-old needs to shoot 64 or better to break the lowest 36-hole scoring record in Tour history.

Thomas pulled his second left of the green at No. 15, leaving him 15-feet to get up-and-down for par.

Instead, he holed it for a three, and after a bogey at the 17th, eagled the final hole to set the PGA Tour 36-hole scoring record.
