Former Alabama QB David Cornwell transfers to Nevada

Lance Iversen / USA TODAY Sports

David Cornwell has decided to continue his playing career at Nevada, as the former Alabama quarterback announced he has committed to the Wolf Pack on Friday.

Cornwell announced he would be transferring from Alabama earlier in the year, and the redshirt sophomore will have two seasons of eligibility remaining for Nevada.

The 6-foot-5, 241-pounder was the fourth-ranked pocket-passer in the class of 2014, and was listed by ESPN as the 57th overall prospect in the country. Despite coming to Alabama with that resume, he never threw a pass for the Crimson Tide, serving as a third-string quarterback to Jake Coker two seasons ago, and Jalen Hurts in 2016.

Cornwell is eligible immediately as a graduate transfer, and will likely battle Ty Gangi for the starting job next season.
