Burris on Roughriders whispers: It's RedBlacks or retirement

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Henry Burris plans to defend the Grey Cup, or go home.

The Ottawa RedBlacks quarterback told TSN's Gary Lawless he's not interested in playing the 2017 season in a different uniform amid rumors he could wind up with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who traded away Darian Durant on Friday.

After an up-and-down season in the nation's capital that saw him lose the starting job, then reclaim it, Burris led the RedBlacks to their first championship in franchise history in November.

The 41-year-old threw for 2,419 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions across eight regular-season games in 2016. He returned to vintage form in the playoffs, but Ottawa still appears more committed to Trevor Harris going forward.
