Texas suspends Tevin Mack indefinitely for violation of team rules

Jeffrey Becker / USA TODAY Sports

Things just keep getting worse for Texas.

A day after losing to TCU at home for the first time in 30 years, the Longhorns suspended guard Tevin Mack indefinitely for a violation of team rules, head coach Shaka Smart said, according to Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News. The violation was unspecified, but Mack was suspended for the same reason in the season opener.

"We have a set of standards that we expect people in our program to adhere to," Smart said. "Tevin has failed to reach them."

It's a big blow for Smart's team, as Mack was the team's leading scorer with an average of 14.8 points per game.

Things won't get easier this weekend when Texas tries to improve its 7-9 record against 10th-ranked West Virginia.
