Ravens add former Bills OC Greg Roman to offensive staff

The Baltimore Ravens have hired former Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman as a senior offensive assistant and tight ends coach, the team announced Thursday.

Roman will take a backseat to returning offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg for his first season in Baltimore, but the 44-year-old's addition has the potential to be a major move for a team desperately in search of some consistency on the ground.

Roman oversaw top-10 rushing offenses for each of his four seasons as offensive coordinator in San Francisco before moving on and leading the top-ranked Bills running game in 2015.

The move comes on the heels of a 2016 campaign in which Baltimore squandered its defense's return to dominance by finishing 28th in average rushing yards.
