Woodley: McGregor vs. Mayweather is going to happen

Gary A. Vasquez / USA TODAY Sports

Tyron Woodley remains confident that Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will one day walk the walk.

In a Wednesday interview with TMZ Sports, the reigning UFC welterweight champ said that while McGregor might not make the $100 million he asked for to settle his war of words with Mayweather in the ring, the Irishman still stands to make a pretty penny off the matchup - one Woodley maintains will materialize.

"I think this fight is gonna happen, and I think Conor's underestimating the pay-per-view," Woodley said. "I think it's gonna be more than $15 million. He's not gonna get $100 million, we can guarantee that.

"He might get $15 million-20 million for the fight, he can get another $30 million-40 million on the back end. Endorsements for this would be unreal and ungodly. I do think the fight's gonna happen."

Woodley's comments come shortly after Mayweather said he would offer "The Notorious" $15 million and a cut of the pay-per-view to bring the long-teased bout to fruition.

When asked how much it would take for him to lock horns with the decorated boxer, Woodley's terms were far more, well, modest than McGregor's.

"I would be the grateful one and take the $15 million," he said. "I would take the $5 million, and five percent of the pay-per-view and a couple watches in a bag to get the job done."
