A number of teams with vacancies are expected to bring aboard men with no head coaching experience. Just who are these mystery, leading men? Let theScore's NFL editors break it down for you.

Vance Joseph

Position: Denver Broncos head coach
Age: 44
Hometown: Marrero, La.
Previous employment: Defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins
Years coaching in NFL: 12
Previous teams: San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, Dolphins

Why he's the man for the job:

In his only season in Miami, the Dolphins ended a seven-year playoff drought by attaining a 10-6 record. As their defensive coordinator, Joseph was entrusted with corralling a unit that featured several new faces, including Kiko Alonso, Byron Maxwell, and rookie Xavien Howard.

The number of points the Dolphins allowed per game dropped from 24.3 in 2015 to 23.8 this year, the penalties called against the unit lowered from 121 to 109, and the amount of takeaways jumped from 16 last season to 25 this season.

The Broncos own one of the best defenses in the league, led by the No. 1 pass defense. While detractors would say Denver can't get any better in that category, its passing yards allowed per game dropped from 199.6 in 2015 to 185.8 this season.

The pairing of All-Pros Aqib Talib and Chris Harris with Joseph will surely cause nightmares for opposing offenses.

What he's also known for:

Joseph is no stranger to the state of Colorado. For four seasons, he played quarterback in college for the Buffaloes. He then spent his formative coaching years with Colorado from 1999 to 2003.

His ties to Denver don't end there. After his first two years in the NFL as a cornerback, Joseph spent the 1997 offseason in training camp with the Broncos.

As an assistant coach, Joseph had a hand in restoring the 49ers defense in the late 2000s before helping guide the Texans defense to top-seven finishes in each of his three seasons there, and managing the Bengals' secondary in two seasons that featured playoff appearances.

What people are saying about him:

"I think I learned a lot from him, just in regards to how he views putting the defensive line and the back seven together, and the front seven and the back four together. I think he's an excellent coach. They are getting an elite guy that understands defense and understands how things work together, and working with a lot of different pieces and puzzles." - Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh

"He has great leadership qualities and a strong vision of what it takes to win." - Broncos general manger John Elway

"He brings a leadership quality that you really love about him. He has such a great personality and such a strong personality - that alpha-type personality where he demands a lot from players that give him everything he has." - Dolphins head coach Adam Gase

"Great dude. A player's coach. He was good for us here. He's very smart. Taught us a lot of things as a group as far as different routes and playing different things. I've played with a lot of good coaches, but V.J. was one of the best coaches I've been coached by." - Bengals cornerback Adam Jones
